Today is the first day of the Ninth Conference March 8- 9th 2024. it will be held in the great state or commonwealth of Virginia. So very much has happened there. Hosted in collaboration with the Carter G Woodson Institute for African American and African Studies at the University of Virginia.

I attended last year when it was held in Charlotte, North Carolina and had a wonderful time and used it to see old friends from high school migrating from New York City south for a “better” life the so called reverse migration and also to see my first cousin retired teacher Educator and Veteran and long time intellectuals who have always tolerated long conversations on family friends, current events and the history of ideas.

It was a wonderful experience and my first time out and about in the South. It was also my first extended visit post pandemic in public, on planes, buses, trains with public transportation.

I wanted to be around the young folks reading books and thinking about things and not just listing problems, but who has the creativity and vision to to dream and see solutions and if nothing else just keep showing up with wild ideas and keeping their anger and frustration at bay. To much is given then much is…
