Dodge Ball... DOGE
have you ever played ?
The rules are pretty simple, if the ball hits you, you’re out! You can file this post under street games that are largely organized and played with children to while away the hours as we spend some time each day in unsupervised play.
I don’t remember all of the intracasises of the rules but the ball is soft about the size of a volleyball, inflated but not hard like a basketball or soccer ball. you stand behind an imaginary line and some one throws the ball at you as hard as they can and if it hits you, you’re OUT. There are boundary lines that you have to stay within. Imaginary, but some are drawn in chalk on the asphalt, or on grass, you can use markers like a tree or some stationary object.
IT MAY BE CONSIDERED A TEAM SPORT but it is usually a fight to the end of sheer stamina as you try to stay out of the way of being hit by a ball. The object is to eliminate as many players as you can by hitting them with the ball. If you actually catch the ball instead of being hit or even knocked down you can throw it at another person and they are eliminated. It moves pretty quickly. You can also eliminate yourself with out even calling a time out by simply stepping out of boundary lines and thus ending your participation.
You have to kinda be in the mood to play dodge ball. Either because you are good at dodging, you don’t mind being hit, or falling or running fast to get away. It is also a game that has a tendency to attract bullies or a bigger kid who derives a bit of…
