First up at bat. So number 2 it is….
It is easier for me to think about writing a friend a letter. In my writing group at church, I learned about the value of the genre of epistolary writing. It gives me freedom and familiarity and I can make up the stuff as I go along as long as I let my reader know.
I am in love with Heather Cox Richardson right now. She has a great title for her blog as many of you Medium folks know even though she writes in that alternate universe substack and came directly from FaceBook . “Letters from an American Patriot”sounds absolutely subversive and so personal all at once as if she were writing to a dear friend.
She has also acquiesced to the notion quite recently that as we all are readers, there is a vast audience that wants to listen to her or their lives ‘don’t allow for the detailed reading she requires…but they will gladly multi-task to listen to her tell a story. Her friends at least want the option of experiencing another medium to have her deliver her message about the conversation for the day.
Like her, there is always a backstory for me and my style of writing a letter to a friend is that for my friends who love me.. they will listen in when…
