Morning comes abruptly thankfully
at first light
As if the specter of even a new moon cycle could cast no reflected light
in the dark September night

Ask me
about the demon child
I have had
one
or maybe two
Possessed as it were indeed

because of something
I did
I said
or did not do
Surely innocence of a broken law is no excuse
Punish me
not my child
Sluts and bastards
Deserve each other
Stone throwers
Leave no stone unturned

I would gladly bargain with the devil
I think I had already
as I recall
I already did
Sly sharp Ruler
of all things evil
I did not know then
how high the price
The art of the deal is lost to the one who can not win but yearns

If you saw
my come to Jesus moment
Were you a witness there

it would have been both the first and last thing I would have done
