Poetry: Writing for Bible Study

Mmmm

How curious

the last day of November, I think it was the last day of August, the call to write, to answer every single time my name was called putting pen to paper

Finger to keyboard

Are you my editor of record

I have been fervently studying the women

Old school first testament bible verses ripe with the lady elders

I completely turned my hearing aid off

No chance I would hear my name

Hannah

No

Esther

No

Must be Sarah or Mary

since it was about the magical birth

Unwed homeless teens

Fourth quarter seniors

Shepherds farm animals and healers all accounted for and present

No

You mean me

Yes

And so the Advent Devotion series begins…

Freshly Renewed no need for revival

perfectly prepared in my beloved community

Nestled inspired

Spiritual force in the world

Cape ready

Curriculum completed way back in September

Before the start of the school year

No further training necessary

Perfect love casts out all fear

The main one I had about how to be a Witness for the divine

How do we exactly prepare for Christmas

I could take and consult a Harris poll

The birth of the Christ.

The set time, the 25th day already on the Calendar

The new beginning

But ahh ahh yes when does the official season begin for you

I love to ruminate over the potential signs and wonders

They often are my favorite bible stories

Well you see

It was like this..

A flock of Blue Jays appeared this morning outside my kitchen window

Replacing my solitary red bird near the red burning bush

no sightings today of the familiar robin or cardinal

My own customary geese and hawks I associate with the bird branch of the burning bush legend generally invisible to me

The orchid arrived with the UPS guy from baby bro who believes not in giving or too many words of comfort

The same UPS guy dropped on the tablet with the perfect Mobile HOT SPOT for random connections

Shot glass taped to the orchid with the label read to me by my daughter to water responsibly clearly a sign the present was for her from her

Cackling red rooster alerting me to the red fox no lives sacrificed today just everyone accounted for as we made our rounds…really God all in one day

TOLD you

By faith not by sight

If you were listening

Some mumbling about hearing the word

No phone

No money

No car

No job

No stomach

No pain

No distractions

Case dismissed

The Lord is my shepherd

I have all I need

She made me lie down in green pastures

Spirit restored

OH my

but we do cycle back….

In a big way

red bird sighted today in the burning bush

whispering and warning there would be snow
